How to use DropShare to Easily and Securely Collaborate on Large Files

These days, almost everyone is working or learning remotely. Gone are the ancient days where you could collaborate on a project in the same room, no matter the size. PowerPoint presentations, video files, raw photos – file collaboration used to be a different world. Now, figuring out a way to safely transfer big files to collaborate on with your remote teammates is annoying and time-consuming. There’s so much back-and-forth on something that should be so simple. How DropShare Works

DropShare works by giving you the ability to transfer big files quickly and easily to anyone, regardless of whether or not they have their own DropSend account. All you need to do is click “Request a File.” Find the “Request to Collaborate” tab and enter the email of the person you want to collaborate with. From there, the recipient will get a link to a page where both of you can upload and download any file. The link will never expire, so you can always share your files with anyone else who needs access.

Why Use DropShare?

Most well-known email services will only allow you to send 20-25 megabyte files over email. To put this into perspective, one raw photo file is 20 megabytes. Only one! A PowerPoint file with multiple images can be over 30 megabytes. Some print-ready PDF files can even come in at over 20 megabytes. This makes it hard to send files back and forth unless you are compressing your files to lower quality. And what if you need to transfer big files? Purely over email, it’s impossible. With DropShare, there are no restrictions on file size. Suppose you are working on a lengthy report with your remote team. It’s full of images, graphs, and tables that can only be created in a burly desktop application, and you need to gain access to the file from your teammate to add your portion of the work. Unfortunately, the file is too big to send over email, so you decide to use your DropSend account. All you would need to do is send your teammate a DropShare link and have them upload the report into DropSend. From there, you can download the report, add any notes, update your section, and simply upload the report back into DropSend. Your teammate will be able to use the same link to access the new version of the file at any time so that you can keep track of every single revision.
